The Dharma book lets you travel, hitchhike with Ray Smith from San Fransisco - where he meets a couple of poets & Dharma penners, american Buddhists, spends real weird parties & hikes arround in the mountains with Japhy, perhaps the most incredible Dharma bums of the story - to home in North Carolina, where he spends his winter time with his family & meditating in a closeby wood. In spring he returns to San Fransisco & spendsa few weeks with Japhy again, getting "prepared" for the following adventure on Desolation Peak, Northwest USA, where he spends the summer alone looking out for fire. Zen, the Japanese art of Buddhism is one of the main topics, haiku's about nature. Nothing really matters because it just did not happen. Did it?
